Dames of Dubuque present "Because She Sang"

Theater

Celebrate Mother’s Day with an afternoon of vocal harmony honoring the voices that raised us, the songs that sustain us, and the lineage of a creative spirit that flows through us still. The Dames of Dubuque present a program spanning centuries, continents, and the breadth of shared feminine experience.
Highlights include Poulenc’s ethereal “Ave Maria,” selections from the world-renowned women’s ensemble LIBANA, three charming rounds by Samuel Barber, and a tribute to Celtic folk traditions. The program also features the premiere of “Eve Forgives”, an original composition by the Dames’ own Mary Bryant.
The Dames of Dubuque - Danielle Phillips, Amanda Huntleigh, and Mary Bryant - are a vocal trio united by a shared passion for performance.
Founded in 2025, the group debuted at Voices Studios in January. All three singers first connected through the Dubuque Chorale, bringing their collective experience and deep musical connection to this heartfelt Mother’s Day performance.
This program is free, with donations appreciated to support
bringing great regional art and artists to the Center.
