Tuba Christmas

Special Event

Experience the sounds of the season, big brass-style!

Join us in MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS!, a worldwide phenomenon in which tuba and euphonium players of all ages gather and play Christmas favorites.

Conducted by Dr. Daniel Rowland, Assistant Professor of Low Brass & Music Education at University of Wisconsin - Platteville, and Principal Tuba of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.

The first Tuba Christmas was organized by Harvey G. Phillips to honor his tuba teacher William Bell, born on Christmas Day 1902. It was held December 22, 1974, in the ice skating rink at New York City’s Rockefeller Center. Now in it’s 52nd year, Tuba Christmas is held in cities worldwide, celebrating those who play, teach, and compose music for instruments in the tuba family.

uba and low brass players of all levels wishing to perform (rehearsal and performance are both on December 14th) can email concert coordinator Danny Rowland at rowlandd@uwplatt.edu.

TUBACHRISTMAS concerts are presented with permission from the Harvey Phillips Foundation, Inc.
