After a 45-year career in university teaching and research—specializing in physical geography, geology, remote sensing, and cartography—Dr. Luman devoted nearly a year in retirement to producing a feature-length documentary, Erosion of the Land and Erosion of the People: Illinois in the Great Depression. Drawing on decades of experience using aerial and ground photography in both the classroom and the field, the film premiered at the Galena Center for the Arts in November 2014. Following additional showings, an updated version will now be presented again at the Center.
