Workshop Schedule
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Morning Presentation & Demonstration
Dive into the vibrant history and regional styles of Rosemaling. You will watch a live demonstration and learn about the unique processes and materials that make this folk art timeless.

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM | Lunch Break
Unwind and chat with fellow students. You are welcome to bring a sack lunch, head out to enjoy lunch in town, or pre-order a convenient Box Lunch through the Arts Center for an additional fee.

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM | Afternoon Hands-On Practice Session
Pick up your brush! You will practice fundamental Rosemaling stroke work and build your own project. By the end of the day, you will paint a beautiful, simple design—either from an authentic pattern or of your own creation—to take home.Meet Your Instructor: Mari Solberg Smith

Mari Solberg Smith is an experienced rosemaler with more than ten years of dedicated study under master instructors. She is an active leader in the Illinois Norsk Rosemaling Association (INRA), where she serves as Education Chair, Librarian, and Zoom class host. As an exhibiting and selling artist who works in both oils and acrylics, Mari specializes in guiding beginner painters as they discover the joy of traditional Norwegian folk art.
