Intermediate Watercolor

Class

Instructor: Barbara Mathews

Celebrate and express the light of your inner spirit! Bring your watercolor paintings up to a new level. Light in all its forms is the single most important tool available for an artist to express mood and drama in a painting. This class is for all levels of watercolorists.

“My intent is to encourage and inspire you on your journey and enjoyment of watercolor painting. Learn to see the abstract shapes that create realistic subjects.

We will study composition, values, shapes and color. Start out right to make sure that your painting is what you expect by following a few simple rules in composition, values, shapes, and color before you start to paint. Then applying the paint is a fun because you have fixed the problems before they occur.

In this class, paint what inspires and intrigues you. I encourage you the use your own references, but I will bring many reference drawings for you to use. I use a limited palette so you don’t need to purchase many different supplies. There will be plenty of demonstrations as well as studio painting time.”

Barbara Mathews, a talented watercolorist from Janesville, WI, has been teaching at various locations for over 20 years.
