Sara Reynolds Lubinski

Sara Lubinski is a landscape painter based in Galena. Always an artist at heart, she spent time working as a botanist on the upper Mississippi River, in several national parks and in the Sonoran Desert. The beauty of these landscapes catalyzed her transition back to the easel. She loves weaving the threads of science and art together, resulting in deep expressive paintings of the natural world. Her awe of the natural world is sustained through observation, curiosity and open-mindedness. Inspired by the early Tonalist painters of the 19th century and the current day expressive school of Tonalism, her current work is reflective of mood and atmosphere, evoked by the an arrangement of landscape elements to project an emotional response. Sara has participated in dozens of group and solo shows in cities and towns along the upper Mississippi River and in Tucson, AZ, including solo exhibits at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum (Winona MN), the National Eagle Center (Wabasha), the Bell Museum of Natural History (Minneapolis, MN) the Andersen Center (Red Wing, MN) and the Dubuque Museum of Art (Iowa). She was an Artist in Residence at the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona in 2020. In the fall of 2026, she’ll be joining a group of plein air painters in the Highlands of Scotland.
