Mike Doland
Mike Doland attended the Layton School of Art before earning his Art Education degree from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater.
Over the course of his career, he balanced teaching with his work as a goldsmith in both Dubuque and Colorado, ultimately becoming a Graduate Gemologist through the Gemological Institute of America. In 1986, Mike opened his own jewelry store in Bellevue, Iowa, later expanding to Dubuque and Davenport by 2001. As a jeweler, he designed and hand-crafted original pieces, earning recognition in both state and national design competitions.
In retirement, Mike has returned to his first love—painting and sketching. He is an active member of the Plein Air Painters of Dubuque and the Urban Sketchers of Dubuque. During the winter months, he continues to expand his skills by taking art classes in Sun City West, Arizona.
