Levon Jackman (K. O’Day) 1924-2016
Levon, also known as K. O'Day, was best known as an artist for her large impressionist-themed garden paintings. Jackman began her art training as a child in Dubuque. After graduating from Purdue University, she studied painting at the University of Minnesota and continued to study art through workshops. Living and painting in North Dakota for thirty years, she raised five children while establishing a reputation as a fine artist. After moving to Galena in 1980 with her husband, the Jackmans established Rivertrace Galleries, where Levon served as Art Director from 1980 until 1996. Her work has appeared in many shows in Galena and Dubuque, as well as one-woman shows at Monroe Art Center, Wisconsin; the University of Dubuque, Iowa; and Eagle Ridge Inn in Galena. With works in over 200 private and many corporate collections, Levon stated that returning to the area in which she grew up influenced the direction of her painting.
