Biography:
My art is a personal expression of myself and my relationship with nature and wildlife. Having grown up in the rolling hills of Western Wisconsin, my love affair with nature started at an early age. Even at that young age, I saw the beauty that nature provided in its colors, textures, and smells and all of that is transposed into my artistic compositions.
Life took me from those Western Wisconsin hills to Colorado, where the majestic beauty of the mountains captured my soul and is reflected in many of my works. After more than 20 years of living in the West, I am now living in Galena, IL, and exploring the Driftless areas of the Midwest, capturing the beauty of these unvarnished bluffs and woods around the Mississippi River.
Artistic Influences and Training
Growing up, my mother encouraged my creative and artistic inclinations. She brought to life the many aspects of nature and wildlife for me and taught me how to appreciate that natural beauty, which is reflected in my artistic works. My family allowed me to pursue those artistic pursuits, and I took advantage of the many art classes offered through my school.
As an adult, I have taken advanced courses offered through universities, art co-ops and galleries, workshops, and through 1-1 sessions with accomplished professional painters.
