Portraits: The Art of Beth Bird

Special Gallery Exhibit

Artist Bio: Beth Bird

The Portraits: The Art of Beth Bird exhibit showcases portraits by Beth Bird, an accomplished artist and Ragdale fellow. Etching, dry point and, often hand coloring, are her favored methods of art making.

Beth's interest in the human face and figure's ability to tell stories is evident in her art. Each of her paintings reveal a narrative—with a considerable amount of her works created in themed series which incorporate items such as pies, cakes, birds and fruits. Some of her figures even dance about the canvas!

Beth has exhibited at the Old Town School of Music, the Union League of Chicago and the Dubuque Museum of Art. Her works are on permanent exhibit at many hospitals in Iowa and numerous homes in the tristate area. In 1996, she established a print studio in a one hundred year old farmhouse in Elizabeth, Illinois.
